Sponge-painted hand painted rock

Do you want to learn to paint on rocks? I am now teaching free classes in painting your own JoyStones.

Torena at Fae Nature 4660 Queen Street Niagara Falls is generously providing tables and chairs for a class, and the next class will be 6:00 pm Tuesday September 19. Please note, seating is limited to ten participants. There are usually some no-shows, so we are running on a first-arrival system for seating if there are more than 10 RSVPs.  Walk-ins will be welcome, but I can’t guarantee supplies and seats if you don’t sign up!

This week I will be demonstrating “sponging” and “dabbing” techniques to make a detailed texture background for your painted stones. Previous students … bring your previous stones so we can varnish them! 🙂

Please feel free to share this page. Remember, this class is free of charge if you bring your own rocks and paint. If you don’t have access to the supplies or don’t know what to bring, I’ll have supplies, and you can make a donation to cover my costs (this is strictly voluntary – you are under no obligation to donate). If you can, bring along a donation for the food bank in lieu of a cash donation (please make sure food items are not expired). I will have brushes, water, and everything else we will need.

Any kind of acrylic craft paint is fine for this class, if you want to bring your own. I get my #JJOYS acrylic paint from Dollarama. Bring your own rocks if you wish, but I will have extra if you can’t find some (I will bring some neo-selenite “faux” rocks as well as real ones). Dollarama usually has some nice smooth river rocks, but they tend to be quite small.

All levels of experience are welcome.
